Traveling to the Island

Flying directly to Nantucket is the fastest, most convenient option. It is worth noting that Nantucket, “The Grey Lady,” is notorious for its unpredictable and quick-changing weather patterns. Flights can be impacted by things like wind and fog, but the airlines always work hard to get you there!

Cape Air - Cape Air/Nantucket Air provides year-round service from ACK to Boston, MA (BOS), New York City (JFK), Hyannis MA (HYA), New Bedford, MA (EWB) and Martha’s Vineyard (MVY). Seasonal Service is provided to Westchester County, NY (HPN).

Please book your flights as early as possible as prices can skyrocket during the summer months. Most of the airlines servicing Nantucket will post flights 8-10 months in advance, so check back in November/December.

BY SEA

The most common and most reliable way to get on island is to take one of the ferries that leaves from Hyannis, New Bedford or New York City. We recommend booking roundtrip ferry tickets in Jan-March 2025, as they can sell out.

From Hyannis

Both the Hy-line and Steamship Authority ferries depart regularly from Hyannis to Nantucket Harbor. You may choose to take the fast ferry (1 hour and recommended) or the traditional (vehicle/freight) ferry (2.5 hours).

Both offer parking near the docks in Hyannis and Hy-line provides a shuttle bus from the Hyannis Transportation Center if traveling by train/bus.

While it is absolutely not necessary, if you do plan to bring a vehicle over, you must book that reservation well in advance. Car reservations will open in January of 2023.

From New York City

The Seastreak Ferry leaves directly from Manhattan only on Friday afternoon (note it will arrive late on Friday evening) and returns Sunday afternoon. This is a great option on a calm sunny day, but can get a little bumpy when it's windy. The ride takes approximately 6 hours. Advance reservations are necessary.

Most of the events will be taking place in Nantucket town. We will be providing transportation from town out to the Friday event at Cisco Brewery. If you want to explore the island a little more and need to get around, there are a few options listed below.

BIKES & MOPEDS

Bikes are a great option if you'd like to explore the island during downtime! There are a number of scenic, paved bike paths around the island to take you to popular areas like Madaket, Town, and Cisco Brewery. The companies below allow you to book by the day or hour and are located downtown for pick-up and drop-off, as well as delivery to your hotel/rental home.

CAR RENTAL

You shouldn’t need a car for the weekend but if you are extending your stay or want to explore more of the island, there are a few options for renting a car. Most car rental companies will meet you at the ferry or the airport or provide free delivery to wherever you are staying.

SHUTTLE

The Wave is the island's public shuttle system which runs regularly with routes all over the island.

It's a great way to get around the island, with convenient pick up/drop off locations and at a great price point ($2-3 depending on where you go). The shuttles have bike racks as well!

Note: Cash only.
